The three metrics can disagree, and which one dips tells you what is wrong. Students are still signing up and staying signed up -- retention is the best it has been -- but they are not turning up. That is an attendance problem, not a retention problem, and the fixes are different: a scheduling or session-quality issue rather than a recruitment one. Retention alone would have said the club was healthier than ever.
