Workload Distribution
Global Compute Workload Distribution
View Workload Distribution MicroSim Fullscreen
This interactive chart shows how global computational workloads are distributed across major categories and highlights the tiny fraction that quantum computing could potentially address. Use the toggle buttons to switch between a doughnut chart of overall workload distribution and a stacked horizontal bar chart that breaks out the "potentially QC-addressable" slice for each category. Click on any segment or bar to see a detailed explanation of why quantum computing does or does not apply to that workload type.
Even under optimistic assumptions, quantum computing is relevant to less than 2% of all computation performed worldwide. The overwhelming majority of global compute -- web serving, AI training, databases, and business applications -- runs on workloads where quantum computers offer no theoretical advantage whatsoever.
