Appendices

Supplementary material that complements the main chapters of AI Strategy for Education. These appendices are written to stand on their own — shared with a colleague, handed to a student, or dropped into a workshop — without requiring the full course.

The MicroStrategies Series

Three companion collections of small, low-risk, high-leverage ideas for putting AI to work in a school. Each is written for a different audience, and together they span the whole institution — from the boardroom, to the classroom, to the student's own desk.

  • MicroStrategies for Leaders — Thirty organizational, top-down strategies for getting a school, district, college, or university to adopt AI: setting a vision, securing sponsorship, building a coalition, lowering barriers, earning trust through policy and privacy, proving value with pilots, and making the change stick. Best for administrators, committees, and change leaders.

  • MicroStrategies for Teachers — Twenty small, bottom-up mini-projects a single teacher can try in a week, with no new budget. They begin with quiet teacher-productivity wins, move into the classroom with a first MicroSim, and grow into shared department practice. Best for an individual teacher looking for a safe first step.

  • MicroStrategies for Students — Thirty student-facing ideas for using generative AI as a partner for learning: getting started safely, using AI as a personal tutor, thinking critically about its answers, creating and exploring, and building habits that last. Written to be shared directly with students.

Where to Start

The three guides are designed to reinforce one another. A common path is top-down meets bottom-up: leaders use their guide to clear the runway — policy, access, and permission — while teachers use theirs to rack up the small, visible wins that prove AI is worth the effort. The students' guide then makes sure the learners themselves use these tools to think more, not less. Start with whichever audience you belong to, and pass the other two along.
