FAQ Coverage Gaps

This report lists the concepts from concept-list.md that are not yet referenced in docs/faq.md. Concepts are grouped by cluster (the same cluster structure used in the learning graph) so that gap-filling questions can be added in the right module.

A concept is counted as "covered" only when its name (or a near variant) appears in the FAQ text. Many uncovered items are pedagogical artifacts (capstone activities, classroom pledges) that may not need standalone FAQ entries.

  • Total concepts in learning graph: 265
  • Concepts referenced in FAQ: 143 (54%)
  • Concepts NOT referenced: 122 (46%)

Critical Gaps (High Priority)

These are concepts students are likely to ask about and that anchor important habits in the textbook. Adding FAQ entries here would directly raise the quality score.

Cluster 1 — Foundations of Digital Citizenship

  • Digital Rights — students may ask "What rights do I have online?"
  • Digital Responsibilities — pairs naturally with rights
  • ISTE Standards — administrators may search for this term
  • Digital Etiquette — broad concept students will hear used

Cluster 2 — Media Balance and Wellbeing

  • Heart Activity / Brain Activity / Body Activity — the central sorting metaphor of Module 2
  • Healthy Habits
  • Digital Habit Tracker — anchors a major MicroSim
  • Daily Tech Log
  • Mindful Use

Cluster 3 — Privacy and Security

  • Two-Factor Authentication (covered briefly — could become a standalone Q&A)
  • Account Security
  • Sign Out Habit
  • Phishing Basics
  • Password Sharing — common kid scenario
  • Targeted Ad — kids see these every day

Cluster 4 — Digital Footprint and Identity

  • Permanent Post / Searchable Post / Copyable Content / Shareable Content — the four properties of a digital footprint, named explicitly
  • Username Choice / Profile Picture — common first decisions kids make
  • Public Post vs Private Post — comparison question

Cluster 5 — Relationships and Communication

  • Block Feature / Report Feature / Mute Feature — the three safety tools every student should know
  • Friend Request
  • Group Chat — central to a student's online life
  • Boundary Setting

Cluster 6 — Cyberbullying, Digital Drama, and Hate Speech

  • Hate Speech — important named concept
  • Digital Drama — distinct from cyberbullying
  • Saving Evidence
  • Reporting Bullying
  • Group Pile On

Cluster 7 — Misinformation and News Literacy

  • Edited Image — a common form of misinformation
  • Shocking Headline / Emotional Hook / Urgency Cue / Curiosity Gap — the four lures of clickbait
  • Date Check / Author Check — concrete fact-check steps

Cluster 8 — Critical Thinking

  • Spotting Bias
  • Open Mindedness
  • Changing Mind
  • Pause Before Share

Newly added concepts (Revision 2)

  • Eye Strain / Blue Light / Posture (wellness)
  • Screen Lock / Biometric Login (privacy)
  • Photo Tagging / Geotag (footprint)
  • Netiquette / Ghosting / Stranger Danger (communication)
  • Trolling / Exclusion / Impersonation / De-escalation (cyberbullying)
  • Satire / Parody / Out of Context / Headline Vs Article (misinformation)
  • Confirmation Bias (already covered) / Cause vs Correlation / Counter Argument / Stereotype / Anecdote vs Evidence (critical thinking)

Medium Priority Gaps

Useful to cover, but lower urgency. These tend to be supporting vocabulary or finer-grained ideas inside a concept already covered.

  • Online Activity, Family Device, Digital Threshold (foundations)
  • Offline Activity, Tech Free Zone, Wellbeing Check (media balance)
  • Hobby Information, Identifying Information, Sign Up Form (privacy)
  • Digital Trail, Post History, Future Audience, Footprint Audit (footprint)
  • Polite Reply, Respectful Tone, Direct Message, Video Chat, Voice Chat (communication)
  • Conflict vs Bullying, Repeated Harm, Empathy Online, Kind Reply (cyberbullying)
  • Information Source, News Literacy, Source Comparison, Slow Down Habit (misinformation)
  • Curious Mind, Asking Questions, Logical Reason, Confirming Sources, Reflective Thinking (critical thinking)

Low Priority Gaps

These are mostly capstone artifacts and pedagogical activities (Cluster 9). They are designed to be produced in class rather than answered in an FAQ. They can be safely skipped unless the administrator-facing audience needs visibility on them.

  • Personal Pledge, Habit Tracker Project, Critical Thinker Toolkit
  • Antibullying Poster, Mini Lesson, Public Service Message
  • Family Tech Plan, Buddy Class Sharing, Classroom Pledge
  • Reflection Journal, Knowledge Sharing, Continuous Improvement
  • Lifelong Learner, Peer Teaching, Self Assessment, Goal Setting, Habit Formation

Recommendations

  1. Address all Critical Gaps in a follow-up FAQ pass — these are the questions a Grade 5 student or their teacher is most likely to actually search for.
  2. The Medium Priority items can be folded into existing answers as bolded terms with one sentence of context, rather than as new top-level questions.
  3. Low Priority capstone artifacts can be safely deferred. They will get coverage through the Teachers' Guide and the chapter activities, not through the FAQ.
