Call to Action¶
The next time you pick up a piece of clothing — your jacket, your backpack strap, your sneaker sole — remember that it is carrying a record of everywhere you have been and everything you have touched. That record is there whether anyone reads it or not. Learning to read it carefully, honestly, and without overstating what it says is the work of forensic science, and it is work that matters. As you study trace evidence in this course, you are joining a tradition that Locard started with a brass microscope, two dusty rooms, and an absolute faith in what the material world can tell us.
