About This MicroSim¶
An interactive diagram of Baddeley's multi-component working memory model. The Central Executive hub connects to three subsystems: the Phonological Loop (verbal/acoustic information), the Visuospatial Sketchpad (images and spatial layouts), and the Episodic Buffer (integrated episodes bridging to Long-Term Memory).
In Explore mode, hover each component to see its storage type, duration, refresh mechanism, and a concrete example.
In Quiz mode, a cognitive task appears and you click the subsystem primarily engaged. Test whether you can identify which component handles mental rotation, silent rehearsal, or multi-modal integration.
