Clinical Protocol Workflow: Chest Pain Evaluation in Emergency Department
About This MicroSim
This flowchart models an emergency-department chest-pain protocol as a graph of decision points. A 12-lead ECG first separates STEMI (the red critical pathway straight to the cath lab) from everything else, which is then risk-stratified by HEART score into low (green), moderate (yellow), and high (orange) pathways. A troponin result splits patients into acute coronary syndrome versus non-cardiac causes before disposition and follow-up. Because the protocol is a graph, the system can attach timestamp properties and detect deviations in real time.
How to Use
Hover over any step to see the clinical detail, time targets, and rationale. Follow the STEMI branch for the time-critical pathway, and the HEART-score branch to compare how low-, moderate-, and high-risk patients are worked up, then watch the troponin decision and disposition converge.
