Description

Put the seven shuffled steps of the safe power-up sequence into the order you would do them, commit once, then read why each step sits where it does. Used in Chapter 3.

The seven steps start in a fixed shuffled order. Select a step by clicking it or by choosing it in the Step menu, then move it with the two buttons.

After Check, the list changes to the correct order. A tick marks each step you had in the right position. For the others, the list shows the position you gave them.

Lesson Plan

Grade level: Middle school and up (age 12+). Time: 5 to 10 minutes.

  1. Arrange. Click a step and press Move up or Move down. Repeat until the list is in the order you would follow before the first power-up.
  2. Commit. Press Check. Only your first Check is scored. Mastery is 6 of 7 steps in the correct position.
  3. Read the reasons. Click each step, or use Previous step and Next step, to read why it belongs at its position.
  4. Practise. Press Shuffle for a new order. Practice rounds are marked but do not change your first score.
  5. Think about it. Five of the seven steps happen before the supply is switched on. What could go wrong if step 6 came first?
