Description¶
Act as the validator for the arm's move_to_pose tool. Check eight tool calls against the schema and name the first problem with each one, or say that the call is valid. Used in Chapter 15.
Explore mode shows the schema of move_to_pose (the allowed range of x, y, z and speed_dps) and the six checks in the order in which the validator makes them. In the quiz the schema stays in view under every call. You choose one of seven outcomes in the menu, press Check, and read the reason.
Lesson Plan¶
Grade level: Middle school and up (age 12+). Time: 5 to 10 minutes.
- Read the schema and the checks. In Explore mode, notice the order: valid JSON, then the tool's name, then missing parameters, unknown parameters, types and ranges.
- Check. Press Start. For each call, run the six checks in order in your head and stop at the first one that fails. Choose that outcome and press Check. You get one try for each call.
- Read the reason. The feedback names the correct outcome and says which part of the call caused it. Mastery is 7 of 8.
- Think about it. Why does the validator refuse
"0.2"in quotes, and refuse a value just outside the range, when it could fix them quietly?
The checks live in code and not in the prompt. A rule in a prompt is a request to the model, and a rule in the validator cannot be argued with.
Specification¶
The learning objective, evidence of mastery and content for this MicroSim are specified in Chapter 15: AI Agents, Tools, and OpenClaw Skills.
