Description¶
Read the eight steps of giving one servo its ID, each with the reason it comes where it does. Then put eight shuffled step cards into the right order, with three attempts to get them all in place. Used in Chapter 8.
The steps and their order follow the LeRobot SO-101 guide, as described in the Chapter 8 section "Servo Preparation, Testing, and IDs": find the port, power the board, run lerobot-setup-motors, connect one servo at a time, and work from the gripper back to the shoulder pan.
To move a card, tap it and press Move up or Move down. After each Check the sim says how many cards are in the right place and marks the ones that are not, without saying where they belong.
Lesson Plan¶
Grade level: Middle school and up (age 12+). Time: 10 to 15 minutes.
- Explore. Tap each of the eight steps and read why it goes where it does.
- Find the dependencies. Which step needs the port name? Which step must happen before the board can talk to a servo? Why is only one servo connected at a time?
- Exercise. Switch to the exercise. Tap a card and use Move up and Move down until the order looks right, then press Check. You have three attempts.
- Think about it. The ID is stored in the servo's EEPROM. What does that mean for the next time you switch the arm on?
Specification¶
The learning objective, evidence of mastery and content for this MicroSim are specified in Chapter 8: Building and Calibrating the SO-ARM100.
