When the user clicks "Activate," the DNA bends to bring the enhancer into contact with the promoter via a chromatin loop. Transcription factor proteins (small colored circles) are shown binding to the enhancer and promoter. An insulator element (red) is shown between two genes; a toggle allows the user to enable/disable the insulator to see how it blocks enhancer action on the wrong gene.
