Automating Instructional Design¶
Sim the Builder-Bot is the mascot for Automating Instructional Design, a textbook on turning learning objectives into interactive MicroSims with AI. Builder-bots are defined by their function — assembling something useful piece by piece — which mirrors the book's core workflow of decomposing a learning objective into a working, testable simulation. The name Sim is a direct pun on the deliverable itself: every chapter in this book produces a MicroSim, and Sim is the character who builds them. That double meaning — a robot who builds sims, named Sim — was chosen so the mascot's identity and the book's output are inseparable in the learner's mind. This is one of the gallery's stronger mascots: the name doesn't just decorate the subject, it names the artifact the course exists to teach students to create.
