Hydroponics¶
Cress the Tree Frog is the mascot for Hydroponics. Frogs have permeable skin and are sensitive to changes in water quality, making them useful ecological indicators and a fitting reminder that water chemistry matters. Cress is also the name of a fast-growing edible plant commonly used in classroom cultivation activities. Cress was chosen to connect careful monitoring of aqueous growing conditions with the living systems those conditions support. The plant name and water-sensitive species create two complementary links to the curriculum, making this a particularly strong mascot.
